Texas (TX) Energy & Efficient Window Performance Cash Rebates & Incentives. Cash rebates and incentives available to Texas homeowners who upgrade to energy efficient windows.

This article discusses the cash rebates and incentives (including loans) available to homeowners in the state of Texas for upgrading to energy efficient windows. Some programs listed aim to improve home energy performance in general; others explicitly focus on efficient window performance. They may be offered by your state, your local energy supply company or the two working together. They can help you pay for the costs of upgrading or replacing the windows in your home.

Texas State Incentive and Rebate Programs:

At this time, there are no energy efficient window incentive programs offered by the state of Texas.

Texas Utility Company Sponsored Incentives and Rebate Programs:

  • Austin Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Home Performance with ENERGY STAR—Loan Program: Provides homeowners with low-interest rate loans to cover the costs of installing low-E glass windows, as well as installing qualifying solar screens or window films.
  • Austin Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Home performance with  ENERGY STAR rebate: Offers homeowners rebates up to $1,575 for performing qualifying weatherization measures including the installation of solar screens, caulking and weatherstripping.
  • Austin Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Multi-family Energy Efficiency Rebate Program: Provides owners of multi-family structures rebates of $1.50 per square foot of glass for the cost of installing solar screens and window film over double-pane windows. A rebate of $1.88 per square foot of glass is available if installed over single-pane windows. Requirements for the program include a SHGC of 0.40 or less for screens and 0.42 or less for films. Rebates of $2.00 per square foot of glass are available for the installation of ENERGY STAR window replacements.
  • Austin Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Commercial Energy Management Rebate Program: Provides businesses a rebate of $.80 per square foot of glass for installing qualifying window treatments or window replacements. Another rebate of $0.40 per square foot of glass is available for installing 50 percent shading treatments. Rebates cover up to $100,000 or 50 percent of the total costs including equipment, installation and tax fees. Any type of window qualifies for rebates for window treatments but replacement windows must have a SHGC of 0.41 or less.
  • Austin Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Free Home Energy Improvements Program: Offers free installation of solar screens for homeowners who meet income requirement qualifications.
  • Austin Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Small Business Energy Efficiency Rebate Program: Offers qualifying small businesses a 30 percent bonus on all rebates offered through the standard Commercial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. Program includes a rebate of $0.80 per square foot of glass area for the installation of qualifying window treatments or window replacements.
  • CenterPoint Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Residential Standard Offer Program (SOP) Program: Provides income-eligible households with funding for program-approved contractor work that improves residential energy efficiency, including the installation of qualifying energy-efficient windows.
  • CPS Energy Incentive/Rebate Program - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program: Offers homeowners a $1.50 per square foot of glass rebate for the installation of ENERGY STAR windows. The program covers replacement windows only.
  • Denton Municipal Electric Incentive/Rebate Program - GreenSense Energy Efficiency Rebate Program: Provides rebates totaling 30 percent of the costs for installing qualifying energy-efficient windows with a maximum rebate amount available of $500. Windows must have a U-factor of 0.29 or less and a SHGC of 0.33 or less. Solar screens also qualify for a rebate through this program with a maximum rebate amount of $200. Screens must block at least 90 percent of solar heat gain to qualify for program. This program is available to both residential and commercial customers.
  • El Paso Electric Company Incentive/Rebate Program - Residential Solutions Program: Offers homeowners rebates for the costs of installing of qualifying replacement windows. Only project work done by registered energy-service providers qualify for this program.
  • El Paso Electric Company Incentive/Rebate Program - Commercial Rebates for window treatments: Offers businesses a $1.00 per square foot of glass rebate for the installation of qualifying solar screens or solar film. Solar screens must block at least 70 percent of solar heat. Also the SGHC for either solar film or screens cannot exceed 0.50. Treatments installed on east and west facing windows qualify for this program.
  • Garland Power & Light Incentive/Rebate Program - EnergySaver Program: Wholehouse Weatherization Program: Provides incentives for qualifying energy saving improvements made to existing homes. A maximum of $500 per home is available for measures including the installation of ENERGY STAR windows, which qualify for a $5.00 per square foot of glass credit. Solar screens and film qualify for a credit of $0.50 per square foot of glass.
  • Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative Incentive/Rebate Program - Conservation Plan 7 Program: Offers loans to homeowners at a seven percent interest rate to cover the costs of qualifying energy-efficient purchases including insulating windows and doors. Maximum loans of $7,000 are available with a seven year payback period.
  • Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative Incentive/Rebate Program - Residential Energy Rebate Program: Provides homeowners a $1.00 per square foot of glass area rebate for the installation of windows with a U-factor of 0.50 or less and a SHGC of 0.35 or less. Also available through the program is a $0.50 per square foot of glass rebate for the installation of solar screens that reduce solar heat gain by 70 percent or window film with a maximum SHGC of 0.40.
